Pajak Engineering: Oil and Gas Project Management
Energy Digital takes a look at Pajak Engineering. When it comes to finding the right man for the job.
CARLSBAD, CA November 09, 2011 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ -- Energy Digital takes a look at Pajak Engineering. When it comes to finding the right man for the job, "Pajak does things a little differently," according to Sutherland. "We concentrate on our people on a competency basis, providing continual education and testing. We do this on a year-to-year basis, and it is partially requested by the operators. They want to know the type of worker they're getting, whether they have soft skills, hard skills, management skills, and we've embarked upon a system of providing both classroom and on the job training for people to improve their skills sets as they stay with us."
Pajak employees tend to be at least 35 to 40 years old or older, with 15 to 25 years of experience on average. "We attract them with money, which is always a good incentive," says Sutherland. "We ensure they are paid as well or better than anybody in our business. In addition to that we have quite a bit of flexibility. Most of these people don't want to work 300 days a year. Most don't want to work 180 days a year. So we arrange their contracts and employment so that it fits what they want. If they want to work a 30/30 time slot, or less than that, fine, we can typically find them a position where the client would love to have their expertise for that period of time.
"We also try and align them with the type of work they want to do. If they want to be offshore drilling deepwater wells, we have customers requiring that. Or, if they just want an office job rotating out of the Middle East, we can do that, too. As the workforce gets older we're trying not to lose them and to keep them engaged, and it's a real win-win for everyone."
