Despite the company's good intentions, some people confuse HVP's sustainable plantation timber practices with native forest harvesting. With about 162,000 hectares of pine and eucalypt plantation, HVP Plantations has the ability to sustainably supply over 3 million tonnes of wood each year, the majority of which goes to processing facilities in rural communities within Australia.
"People are losing sight of the fact that plantation forestry is sustainably managed, and provides benefits at multiple levels," Sewell explains. "We are the only carbon positive industry in Australia. Whilst other industries are working hard to establish their green credentials, we are already green."
