It started almost 75 years ago in the coastal city of Mombasa in Kenya as Doshi & Co. Ltd. Initially a timber trading company, the group has expanded to include eight subsidiaries spanning the entire range of building materials from ironmongery, power cables, water and sewerage systems, structural steel , electrical and IT equipment.
The incredible growth of the construction industry in East Africa and in particular Kenya, where construction has grown by an average of 75 percent annually in the last seven years, has allowed the Doshi Group to thrive in this vibrant economy.
The group consists of Doshi & Co. (Hardware) Ltd., Doshi Enterprises Ltd., Doshi & Co. (Electrical) Ltd., Cellnet Ltd., Metsec Cables Ltd, Metsec (T) Ltd., Doshi Hardware (Tanzania) Ltd. and Doshi Hardware (Uganda) Ltd..
With headquarters in Mombasa, it also operates in Nairobi, Eldoret, Kampala and Dar es Salaam.
Doshi's first product brand to launch was the highly successful water heater brand 'Aquaheat' in 2003. The group's other key brands in the business include Aquapipe, Superlite and Metsec.
