Mary Ross Smith to Be Profiled in Exclusive Registry
Mary Ross Smith's novel "Soul Survivor," compellingly based on her own life, is a required read at her local college
PHOENIX, AZ, September 7, 2010 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ -- Mary Ross Smith, Author of Soul Survivor, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in publishing.
An accomplished author and poet, Ms. Smith writes and researches non-fiction and fiction based on true events. In 2002, she began writing about her real life experiences and published her first novel, Soul Survivor, in 2004. She wrote her second book, a fiction story based on true events, in 2009 and is currently working on her third book. She has also published poetry and devotes her time to attending book signings, conferences and events, such as the Maui Writers Conference in 2003. The South Mountain Community College is using Soul Survivor as a required read for their human development, social and multi-cultural psychology class.
After obtaining her high school diploma, Ms. Smith began writing about her life experiences as a catharsis and continued to advance into a full-time author. Also a motivational speaker, she was a featured orator at the Arizona Black Expo in Phoenix. In addition, she has worked in the life insurance industry since 1993, working with the New York Life Insurance Company and MetLife. She is a life underwriter training council fellow with a license in life and health insurance. A member of the North Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, the Professional Employer Organization, the Writers Guild of America and BlackAuthors.com, she attributes her success to her determination to overcome obstacles, experiences from her past and husband's support. In the future, she aspires to have her books made into feature films, while continuing to write and guest speak.
