Joseph Allen Scott Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
for Excellence in Historical Studies
Joseph Allen Scott has 20 years of experience researching genealogy
NORFOLK, VA, May 13, 2010 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ --Joseph Allen Scott, Historical Genealogist, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in historical studies.
A respected expert on social science and history, Joseph Allen Scott has 20 years of experience as a historical genealogist. He has been widely lauded for the meticulousness of his research, among the most notable of which is a project about an immigrant family from Scotland that took approximately 10 years to complete. His thesis, entitled "The Forgotten Brother," is on file at the Carlyle Letter Project, English Dept., University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He has painstakingly assembled a biography of Thomas Carlyle's half-brother, John Carlyle, who immigrated to Ontario, Canada in the nineteenth century. Fascinated by genealogy, Mr. Scott considers pursuing his passion to be the most gratifying aspect of his work. He attributes his success to his self-motivation and the encouragement that he received from his grandmother, Kate Carlyle Humphrey.
Mr. Scott earned a Ph.D. in historic genealogy from Belford University and a bachelor's degree in social science from San Fransisco State University. He is a member of the Tidewater Genealogy Association in Newport News and volunteers regularly with the Downtown Norfolk Civic League.
