Martha S. Culp Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Education

Martha S. Culp, veteran educator, builds second career as an author

JOHNSON CITY, TN, April 09, 2010 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ --Martha S. Culp, Author, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.

Martha S. Culp ventured into writing after a fruitful 60 years as an educator. The author of the autobiographical "The Livingston Years," she was the founder and director of a program at Livingston State College that focused on giving second chances to stellar high school students who found themselves floundering in college. Dedicated to nurturing students at all competency levels, Ms. Culp also taught special-needs children and adults and counseled local and foreign student groups. She concluded her career as an elementary special education teacher at the Laboratory School of Auburn. Since retiring, she has followed in the footsteps of her artistic family by picking up her pen; she attributes her successful transition into the family profession to her passion for education, art and music.

Ms. Culp holds a bachelor of science in elementary education and art from Auburn University and an associate degree in elementary education from Jacksonville State University. Additionally, she completed coursework in early childhood education and art at Columbia University. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Delta Kappa Gamma and is a charter member of the Watauga Valley Art League.

Previously, Ms. Culp served as president of the Watauga branch of the National League of American Pen Women, as president of the Blue Ridge Quilter's Guild, as a board member of Easter Seals and the Johnson City Symphony, and as a member of the Admissions Review Board of the Greene Valley Developmental Disabilities Center and the Tennessee State Board of Mental Health. Now focused on her writing career, she looks forward to publishing more books.
