Debra Hardymon May Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Debra Hardymon May is dedicated to supporting nonprofit organizations
AUGUSTA, KY, December 8, 2010 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ -- Debra Hardymon May, Retired Children's Librarian of the Campbell County Public Library, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in literary documentation.
Prior to retiring in 2007, Ms. May worked as a high school English teacher, a program coordinator for Licking Valley Community Action Program, Inc., and a librarian in the children's section of the Campbell County Public Library. She retains an expertise in information science and children's library matters. In her position, she oversaw children's programs, maintained and updated the children's collection and purchased new books. On occasion, she also visited schools and day care centers to market the Campbell County Public Library children's programs. Additionally, Ms. May supervised a local summer reading program and is an unpublished author. She attributes her success to her determination and hard work.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Ms. May received a master's degree in librarian information and science in 2001. She also earned a Master of Arts in English from Morehead State University in 1989. Ms. May is a member of the South Western Ohio & Neighbors Library Association, Alley Cat Allies, the World Wildlife Fund and Kappa Delta Pi. She is also affiliated with the alumni association of the University of Kentucky and The United Methodist Church. Ms. May is the recipient of the I Dare You Award from The American Youth Foundation and an English Public Speaking Award.
In her spare time, she lends her services to Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, the United Methodist Committee on Relief and the American Cancer Society. Ms. May also volunteers for the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Additionally, she voluntarily assists with the Alzheimer's Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, MADD and the Sioux Nation Relief Fund.
