Barbara C. Alvarez celebrates 15 years as an author
LAS VEGAS, NV, January 6, 2010 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ -- Barbara C. Alvarez, Author, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in writing.
As an accomplished author for the past 15 years, Ms. Alvarez specializes in writing of civil rights and historical crime issues, and often with emphasis upon issues of war. Her family member served on both sides of the Civil War and in World Wars I and II. War service included the Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Count Diego von Bergen, who in silently breaking ranks with Adolph Hitler, was demoted. Later, upon the demise of von Bergen, his German estate was confiscated and utilized as a campground by Nazi generals. Von Bergen provided the expose regarding Pope Pius XII not adequately assisting many who were later killed.
Ms. Alvarez attributes as among her greatest inspirations, her father, Milton Stephen Clark, M.D., counter-intelligence officer, physician, pilot, furniture-maker and inventor who transmitted via short-wave radio to Washington from Goldsboro, N.C., during WWII and beyond. NCIS intelligence linguist and deceased federal officer husband, William Alvarez, remains an inspiration. Mr. Alvarez served as L.A. County Sheriffs Office liaison to the Probation Department, with teaching credentials in German and Spanish and as former bodyguard to LASD Leroy Baca. It was her caretaker teacher-author grandmother, Catherine Cecile McGowan McLaughlin Skeffington of Savannah and Goldsboro, who taught the love of reading, and of writing.
Ms. Alvarez completed coursework in liberal arts and has membership in Vegas PBS, The Smithsonian, Amnesty International USA, National Geographic, NAACP, Folio Society, Southern Poverty Law Center, and Nevada Test Site Historical Foundation. Recipient of awards in science and in marksmanship, she expects to have the book entitled The Three Faces of Ave, published in 2010, with sequels to follow.
