Nancy Giuliani Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Nancy Giuliani recognized for dedication and excellence in the field of journalism education
NEWPORT, OR, November 16, 2009 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ -- Nancy Giuliani, Retired Language Arts, Publications and Journalism Teacher for Lincoln County Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
Prior to her retirement, Nancy Giuliani gained 35 years of career experience in the education field. During her tenure with Lincoln County Schools, she expertly taught high school journalism classes as well as English and publication courses for ninth through 12 grade students. Additionally, she taught drama, arts and health education for students in seventh through 12th grade. Ms. Giuliani was recognized amongst her peers for her ability to work well with academically disabled students and was honored with a number of awards for her efforts in scholastics. In 2008, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Journalism Education Association as well as recognition from the Oregon Journalism Association and Northwest Press Association. The Oregon Education Association honored Ms. Giuliani for her contributions to education and her years of service, and the Yearbook Company distinguished her as an honoree for 30 years of career excellence. Additionally, Ms. Giuliani has been honored several times in Who's Who Among America's Teachers because, according to her students, she "made a difference." Further, she was cited by the University of Oregon, Eugene, School of English, in recognition by former students in influencing them to major in literature, writing and journalism.
Early on in her career, Ms. Giuliani served as a newspaper reporter and editor - an experience the laid the groundwork for her involvement in journalism education. Having been positively influenced by her own teachers at a young age, she recalls becoming interested in education. Ms. Giuliani considers having had the opportunity to educate so many young people to be particularly gratifying, and attributes her success to her work ethic. Ms. Giuliani was also the convention coordinator for the 1983 Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Media Convention, an international mass media education convention, held at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon.
In 1974, Ms. Giuliani gradated from Oregon State University with a master's degree in literature and journalism, plus 90. Her professional affiliations include the Oregon Journalism Education Association, the Oregon Education Association, the Journalism Education Association, the National Journalism Education Association, the National Education Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the American Association of University Women, the National Scholastic Press Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Looking to the future, Ms. Giuliani intends to provide consulting services for state and national high school journalism education organizations.
