Gwen Hunsaker Haws Honored for Accomplishments in Publishing

Gwen Hunsaker Haws has experienced many changes in publishing since 1943 and finds the ease of desktop publishing exciting

    LOGAN, UT, June 19, 2009 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ -- Gwen Hunsaker Haws, Editor and Owner of Haws Publishing, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of publishing.

Specializing in educational publishing, Ms. Haws has 66 years of overall professional experience. She began her small desktop publishing company in 1987, after she retired from Utah State University as university editor and director of publication design and production. She is responsible for using page maker and page layout software to create publication documents on a computer for small scale, local, multifunctional peripheral output and distribution. Ms. Haws also formerly held editorial positions with University of Minnesota, Iowa State University, Cornell University and the U.S. Navy. As a civilian, she edited a U.S. Navy Base publication out of the public relations office during WWII from 1943 to 1945.

At 86 years of age, Ms. Haws is currently in the process of publishing three family ancestral history books. She is compiling history and photographs of the descent of a family in the order of succession, with the earliest known ancestor placed at the head and later generations placed in lines of direct and collateral descent. She has written a book titled 'History of Abraham Hunsaker and his Family,' Second Edition with Kenneth B. Hunsaker, published by the Salt Lake City Publishers in 2001.

Ms. Haws received her Master's Degree in Journalism and Education in 1965, from Iowa State University and Utah State University. In 1943, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and English, from Utah State University, where she also received the Community Associate Award.
