Joseph H. Strain, Ed.D. Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

He served in World War II and the Korean War as a Marine Corps pilot with the rank of Captain.

    BOSTON, MA, March 12, 2009 /Journalism and Writing PR News/ -- Dr. Joseph H. Strain, Associate Dean Emeritus of Suffolk University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for his leadership and excellence in teaching and academic administration.

During a 43-year career at Suffolk University, Dr. Strain served as Alumni Secretary, Director of Summer Sessions, Chair of the Department of Communications, Assistant Dean in Charge of the Evening Division, Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and Acting Dean of Enrollment Management for the College of Liberal Arts and School of Management.

In 1990, the Suffolk University Heritage Committee awarded him the Heritage Medallion for "distinguished service to Suffolk University." It reads, in part, "Your personal skills and application made it possible for the College to pass several milestones on the way to institutional maturity and development, milestones that included successful reaccreditation campaigns, crucial Title III grant-writing efforts, pioneering long-range and strategic planning activities, and ground-breaking faculty governance initiatives."

Dr Strain received his Ed.D. (1960) and C.A.S. (1958) in Educational Administration from Harvard University; his M.A. in English (1949) from Boston College; and his A.B. in History (1943) from Suffolk University. He served in World War II and the Korean War as a Marine Corps pilot with the rank of Captain.

He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Life Care Residents Association (MLCRA) and Editor of Massachusetts Patriot, MLCRA's quarterly newsletter.
